Digital & Creative Designer
We have partnered with a leading independent creative agency to help find their next Digital & Creative Designer. Based in a Surry Hills, Sydney office, this team is looking for a talented intermediate to senior level Digital & Creative Designer to join them full time.
This is a rare opportunity to work across both UI/UX and creative campaign design in a roughly 50/50 split. You will be joining a crew of innovative thinkers, makers and storytellers who live to push boundaries in digital and visual design. On offer is a flexible work arrangement, with three days in the office and two from home.
You will be responsible for a variety of projects, some solo, some collaborative, bringing them to life from concept through to delivery. You will be the driving force behind digital design output, balancing hands-on work with mentoring junior team members and helping shape the creative process. Reporting to a Creative Director and Producer, you will also oversee other designers when needed to ensure consistency, creativity and technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strong user focused UI designs for any platform or device
- Create digital first designs across platforms, apps and advertising campaigns
- Generate powerful visual concepts and campaign art direction for a variety of ad formats
- Ensure accessibility and UX best practices are integrated into all digital designs
- Maintain high quality control throughout the entire design process
- Take ownership of creative briefs from start to finish
- Oversee and mentor junior designers, providing feedback and guidance
- Provide accurate time estimates and collaborate with producers to stay within budget
- Be a brand guardian for clients, balancing brand consistency with creative innovation
- Work closely with team members to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional work
- Stay ahead of design trends and share inspiration with the team
- Contribute to the growth of the studio and assist in new business opportunities
Skills and abilities:
- Ability to produce polished, high quality digital and campaign creative
- Highly proficient in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Keynote
- Strong understanding of design systems and UI/UX fundamentals
- Confident in presenting ideas internally and to clients
- Able to create compelling presentation decks
- Demonstrated ability to lead, organise and inspire a team
- Comfortable switching between product design and campaign concepting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Solutions focused, self-motivated and proactive
- Bonus: Ability to generate and pitch proactive creative concepts
Requirements:
- Five plus years of experience working in a creative or digital design environment
- A standout portfolio showcasing both UI design and campaign creative
- Strong background in visual design, layout, typography and art direction
- Experience working across a broad range of digital platforms and formats
- Solid understanding of accessibility and UX best practices
- Experience mentoring junior team members and reviewing creative output
